- Volume III chronicles Sarah Shurtleff's travels in Europe. A selection of the many attractions she visits include: the Louvre, Hertford House, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the British Museum in London, Furness Abbey, and John Ruskin's house. Locations visited in the Lake District include Furness, Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere. More everyday details are also included such as: the hotels they stayed in, the food they ate and the acquaintances they met. Throughout the journal there are numerous paste-ins and inserts of ephemera, such as picture cards, illustrating the places they visited.
