- Description
- Louise Stoughton wrote long letters home in journal form, describing her and her aunt and uncle's travels and experiences in Europe. The letters include descriptions of their attendance at weddings and receptions, christenings and funerals, parties and dances, church services, balls, functions at palaces (including Buckingham Palace), dinners and presentations. They socialise and meet with many distinguished aristocratic individuals. Royal, religious and society figures include Countess Lansdorff, Countess Mengden, the Pope, the Queen of Italy, the King and Queen of Spain, the British home secretary and Prince Dolgowsky.
