- Account of a scientific expedition to Brazil led by her husband, Louis Agassiz, with many descriptions of the spectacular scenery, of meetings with the emperor and empress, witnessing a solar eclipse, and hearing of news of the US Civil War and of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth, who was a family friend.
